League City's scenic charm was painted on dozens of canvases during the weekend of January 21-22. Members of the Outdoor Painters Society, the Bay Area Painting Society, Clear Creek ISD students, and artists from all over Texas traveled to League City to participate in a Plein Air Paint Out. Plein Air is a French term for “out of doors” and refers to the practice of painting an entire finished picture outside.
Over 40 artists came out and set up art stations throughout League City’s Historic District, at locations including League Park, Helen’s Garden, St. Mary’s Church, and Heritage Park. For two days, artists spent their time outside, painting their surroundings and what inspired them. The newly painted artwork was for sale on Saturday evening.
