If you’re visiting the League City area, heading down to the Gulf of Mexico is a no-brainer. In less than 30 minutes, you’ll be digging your toes into the sandy beaches and splashing in the warm waters of the Gulf. Public beaches run from the ends of the island and along the seawall, with ample parking and plenty of space to spread out. 

If you’d rather experience the Gulf by boat, book a fishing charter or hop on one of the dolphin cruises. In the West Bay you’ll find several kayaking trails within the bayous of Galveston Island State Park, providing opportunities to experience calmer waters and vibrant animal habitats. If living on Island Time sounds good to you, Galveston is the place to be.
